Fascist regimes love rewriting history to fit their narrative. Today, Putinist propaganda attempts to delegitimise Ukrainian history and nationhood. The Kremlin’s statements are laughable to anyone familiar with the history of the region. Yet, the “Ukraine is not even a country” argument is now being used to justify an imperialist invasion and the murder of thousands. It is the duty of historians to set the record straight and dispel pseudohistorical myths.
30 historical YouTube channels founded Project Ukraine to introduce the English-speaking audience to the rich and distinct Ukrainian history and culture. In addition, Project Ukraine partnered up with the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Centre to raise funds to support vulnerable Ukrainians suffering from the war.
